Hi everyone, new to the forum.

I just purchased a 2007 BMW 530xi (I pick it up Friday) and have a question I wasn't able to find in the forum by searching.

My current, or soon to be previous car is a Mercedes C320 4Matic, and I have a set of winter tires for it. 205 55 16, and I was wondering if these would clear fit on the 530xi?

I heard that the brakes might be too big for 16 inchers on this car, and also that they might not be wide enough.

Thanks for the help in advance!

I think 17" are an optimal size for winter tires ... 16" wheels might not clear brakes and suspension components.

JW-BENZ, PM me. I have a set of OEM 17 inch wheels for sale. I tried to PM you, but you did not open permission to allow people to send you PM.

Although some early US e60s had Style 134 16" wheels, they aren't that common. Therefore, you'd need to go aftermarket. I definitely would check caliper clearance prior to purchase.

16" wheels are fine - BMW sells winter wheels with this diameter in Europe.

Even though you have an xi, if you are planning, or required by law to use snow chains on your car then anything bigger might cause clearance problems.

EDIT: better check their website to make sure, they may not fit all E60 models

On my 545, I took the 18" sport wheels and just put Micheline Pilot Alpine PA3's (245/40/18) on all 4 corners and I have driven 6 inch snow with no issues. In fact, I felt the 225's did not provide a measurable difference in snow performance (drove a friends) to give up the dry performance feel.
