I was wondering whats the cost to replace the front and rear window's weather strip? Im on the market for a 04-05 530i or 545i and all the ones that i went to go look at, the front and rear window weather stripping is completely dried and cracked. Do u guys have the same problem and is this common? My mom has a 04 c230 and she just parks it in the sun everyday and the weather stripping still looks like new but with 04+ 5 series that i went to go look at, they all seem to have bad weather stripping.

 

AFAIK the windshield has to be removed, re-sealed, and glued again.

Maybe 2 hours of labor? Windshield re-sealing has to be done very precisely by a skilled BMW technician. Insist on very precise installatione. Otherwise you hear various whisper, whine and air blowing in the interior when driving. Very common problem when the windshield was not installed precisely enough (even at BMW authorized dealers).

In your case, not worth the trouble?

 

The windshield does not need to be removed. Do a search and you will see that many have done this without.

 

+1 I have the top stripping for the front windshield that I'll be replacing tomorrow. Got piece from dealer for $18
