thanks BMWV8STER. Does $49 sound alright for this type of work?
I only had chip repair once but that was 5 years ago and I forgot how much I paid.

$49 is a very reasonsable price for this job. how much do you pay for a cup of coffee at starbucks? is that cup really worth $3-$4? not really? but you still do it? right?

Safelite is good, but BE SURE they use a BMW windshield and not a third-party OEM version, which contains a coating that prevents signals for GPS and toll transponders (such as EZ-PASS in northeast US) from being read. My ins. co. made them come back and replace the replacement.

Yes I had same issue. Called insurance co., explained problem, and they sent Safelite out to put another one in. I got the correct part no. from my dealer. (Next time, I'll have the dealer do it. Ins. pays anyway.)

Does anyone know how much SafeLite charges for an OEM windshield replacement? Mine has a couple of small chips (pits?) about 1 mm in diiameter each that according to SafeLight they are just surface scratches that cannot be fixed.
