Another thing , that I would like to share with you is when speaking to the rep, she advised me to slow down to less than 3mph and I asked her, What is the benefit of EZPASS if I have to slow down? Wasnt the whole idea so that I can cruise through and not have to stop and pay toll conventionally with cash or coins/token

She paused and said, true.. I dont know. And then we both just laughed..

I don't think slowing down to 3mph is an unreasonable thing to do. Where does it say that the EZPASS concept would allow you to not slow down? Clearly, slowing down to 3-5mph is still way faster than stopping, waiting in line, etc. like the non-tagholders still have to do...

Dont get me wrong, EZpass still is better than paying toll the old way but lets be realistic about this, Ive traveled around the world and it just seems that our Eletronic toll system is like dinosaur ages behind

There is better technology out there for sure, why we use this crappy ezpass is beyond me..

I can understand slowing down for safety reasons, but slowing down so that the EZPass system can detect and read your tag? doesnt make sense at all

On the Garden State Parkway there are areas where you use ezpass and you don't have to slow down you can do the speed limit 55-65 mph or what ever you choose as long as you don't get caught. When you go thru at the speed limit thats a real advantage of having ezpass. At the exit tolls you have to slow down to 15 mph but thats still not as bad as when you go from NJ to PA even when you use the ezpass you have to come to a full stop to wait for the freaking gate to go up so you can get thru, now thats stupid, whats the advantage of having ezpass?
cheers

Sadly enough, I do not want to put the ugly sunpass unit on my window. Thus, I hold the Sunpass unit against my window as I go by (I only use it twice a month on average).

No problems.

You used to be able to do that with the EZ Tag system here in TX, but they switched from the thick plastic powered units to a non-powered RFID chip encased in a thin sticker that doesn't work unless it is affixed to the windshield. I guess it somehow uses the surface area of the windshield to increase reception or something.

I wish they'd just go to the system they use in some places up in Canada... no tags at all. They use cameras attached to software that correctly identifies your license plate and debits your account.

I agree that it's ugly -- I have some clear velcro attached to the windshield way up high next to the mirror and I only attach my transponder when I'm travelling on a road that requires it...

I have the same problem, here in florida my sunpass won't read unless I stick it out the window, I know I have the metal oxide tint, there is a tear on it in the top right hand corner.
I have tought of removing it but I don't know if it is possible, should I remove it? has anyone done this?
