Could it be something with the climate control? Maybe the car is accidentally programed to ventilate the car after a certain amount of time or temperature. I know that BMW has one of those automated ventilation feature like the guy above me said. Just a hunch...

i have played with the ventalation feature on the car and it did not roll down any of the windows or open the sunroof, it just turned on the climate control fans so the air would ciculate. the air felt cold but not sure if it was actually using the air conditioning.

I just went through my owners manual as well as through the iDrive screens and didn't see a thing about a feature that automaticalls opens windows and the sunroof to ventilate - just one that will ventilate the car using the cars ventilation system - and that system is set by the iDrive based on a timer.

However, when I took delivery of my car last week the salesman TOLD ME that the ventilation feature included opening the windows and the sunroof......

I just got my 535xi last week - so I am no expert by any means - but I know there is a feature that works off a timer in the iDrive that will open the windows and sunroof to "cool" the car.
no such feature exists nor would it since it could invite thievery among other problems (unscheduled rain)

The feature in iDrive for ventilation will just run the fan at a specified time to cool the car down.

If memory serves me correctly, there was a software problem in early models that would cause the windows/sunroof to open for no reason when stopped. It was well known in early 7 series. I suggest you get the dealer to upgrade the software. Might want to do it really quickly before the warrenty runs out (I'm assuming you have the 4 year warrenty where-ever you live).

Good luck.

I had my iDrive firmware upgraded in Feb to make it work with my blackberry, which has had some minor intermittent problems.
If this is well documented I would appreciate any info you can email me please, or IM, thanks!

I'm going to lowes to by a dehumidifier now, but I mean water is EVERYWHERE in my car, the rear foot wells had standing water in them becuase we had a torrential downpour this morning in Austin, TX!

That happened to me also. Mine is only 1 week old. I had the key fob in my back pocket and sat down not more than 50 meters away from the car. Noticed my neighbour staring at it and he said " your windows just came down by themselves". I think I somehow got the open button pressed while the fob was in my pocket!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My keys were not in my pocket, they were laying on my dresser in the bedroom upstairs.
I know how long it takes to open all of it, and you have to hold the button down for 20 seconds. I keep my keyes in my front bocket and had baggy cargo shorts on... there is NO F'N WAY I pressed the button, NO WAY AT ALL!!!
