The last several times I started my 530, I got a warning message in the control center that looked like the window symbol, followed by an exclamation point. It goes away after 20 seconds, so obviously not a major issue, but what is it? I can't find anything like it anywhere in the Owner's Manual, and I checked every page.

I recall a few postings regarding a false "hood open" warning that would come on -- this doesn't strike me as a hood or door ajar symbol. I have no clue.

I just got my windows tinted last Friday and I was left with the same error. when I check the messages in the I Drive menu, it says something about the power window anti-trap function being deactivated. basically this means that it is now possible for me to close the window on some poor unsuspecting passenger's hand, and the window won't detect it in it's path. I'm taking the car in for service on Wednesday anyway, so I'll have it reactivated then.

I figured it out driving to the office this morning. On the iDrive Car Data Service menu, the icon and message does in fact refer to the window anti-trap feature being deactivated. Of course, I didn't deactivate it, nor do I know how to reactivate it, so I'll ignore it until I can find time to schedule service. The only noticeable symptom is that the rear windows only go up about 4 inches and then stop -- pull on the window button again and they go up another four inches and eventually, after several pulls, get closed.

In the meantime perhaps my dealer will catch up to the latest software release and can activate my daytime running lights (I think titanium silver is a great color, but does tend to be far less visible in the daytime than most other colors), and hopefully this will also correct the slight hesitation problem that others have referred to as being "fixed" with the new software.

Billybob... does the anti trap trim on the top of the window look OK on all the Windows (meaning this message can come up if a continual trap is detected at car power on). If the trim is slightly off (assembly problem) it can get pushed up into one of the window gaps and get detected as trapped.

NickP -- thanks for the tip. I ran my finger all around the window trim on the right rear window, and while I can't say that I found anything unusual, the problem has gone away, at least for now.

My guess is that this is one of those spurious problems that will come and go, but never present itself when it's in for service.

A friend of mine had a similar problem.

The message in the iDrive mentioned that "side window atri-trap....".
In his case, it was the back side window with the problem. All i did was to take all the way down and the all the way up. (i noticed that "one-touch-down/up" function was not working). After that all was ok.
Tip. On an A3 i previously owned, the same kind of problem was solved by holding the button for a couple of seconds after full close.

I hope this may help.

I got the message too yesterday. Only happened once to me so far, I will bring my car in to the dealer next monday to fix all oustanding issues (almost 20 items now in one month of ownership, not bad I would say) and let them take a look at this too.

Before entering the car yesterday I opened up all windows/sunroof before I entered (car was standing in direct sunlight) and the message popped up as soon as I started my car. I tried to close all windows with the one-touch function and all of them closed without any problems. Strange!

Amazing, compared to my almost two months of ownership and zero issues for the dealer to fix.
