window tint = quieter interior?
#1
i finally got around to getting my windows tinted. 35% formula one tint
the first thing i noticed pulling out of the shop was that the interior was quieter. does this make sense? maybe the film absorbs some of the sound waves. lol

It's the new ambience. Try taking a new girl out on a Valentine date in that lighting and put it to the the test... I guarantee you will be one step advanced to getting lucky. Every single or wanna-be single man should get one.

I am definitely not seeing how that is possible. Road noise comes from tires and sounds in the car comes from within. Any other noise can come from the door but that would mean you need to replace your seals. But I could be wrong

well, road noise does come through the glass too. my old trailblazer ss used laminated glass on the front doors for less cabin noise.

If your new tinting is made from egg carton foam then I would say it definately is quieter in the cabin. Otherwise, probably psychological. I assume you didn't use a decibal meter in a controlled environment to make this observation? BTW, this comment is only meant to be partially smart-@$$ and in good fun.

The tinting is a flat smooth surface, it is likely to REFLECT sound instead of absorbing it (just like the glass underneath). To quiet the car you need to add sound deadening material!
