Today I had to coach my sons flag football team in Ramstein Germany so we put the car on the autobahn and opened it up since we have accumulated the necessary 1200 miles for break in. 0 to 80 MPH and the car is as silent as can be; but, when we reach 100 to 130 MPH the wind noise take over. It is not loud enough that I have to raise my voice to talk to my wife or turn the volume up on the radio; but loud enough to make you wonder what is going on. I would have thought that BMW would be a little more air tight that what it is. Am I being to picky or does anyone else have this problem with the wind noise. Can it be that it is acceptable at speeds over 100 MPH to have wind noise issues? Can you guys weigh in on this issue and let me know if it is just me?

Hell, yes it's just you. You can legally drive your NEW BMW at a hundred and thirty AND your wife doesn't complain about your driving! Geez! I should have such problems!

First, lucky you. Wish I had someplace to drive my car at those speeds. I have read others complaining about wind noise, especially from the moon roof. Try searching the topic and see what solutions were posted.

Yes, the front windsheid seems to leak at those speeds, starting from 130 km/h.

Do we have a fix for this problem?

There's are old threads about this problem. I heard my noise at 125mpg...but it was more of a whistle...and it was definitely the windshield...sounded like air coming through the seal. When I complained about it, my dealer told me that unfortunately they could not have their tech guy drive that fast to verify the problem. However, where you are it's legal...so you should have the dealer check it and have it re-sealed. Fortunately for me, my window cracked from a stone chip and I had insurance replace the window and asked the body shop to seal it very well. The other problem I've also noticed is how loud it gets at high speeds if your sunroof shade is pulled back, (even with the sunroof closed). So on the highway, I pretty much leave them both closed all the time!

Ya... I can hear wind noise cromming from the sunroof after 50 mph or so. Thats why I like to close the sunshade... but I do like seeing the sky...
