I don't know the answer (so don't listen to me) but I'll be massively surprised if the MP3 upgrade (which I've had done) would wipe a remap. As far as I know a remap would be done in the engine management system, and an MP3 upgrade is done to the iDrive system and the two (re-iterating as far as I know) are completely different, although there's probably a informational link between the two.

When you connect the car to the SSS and want to do encoding/retrofitting, the computer will first update the car to the last Progman.
THEN you will active the mp3.

I lost the remap with a progman update, yes.

Edit:
but before I updated 1-2 times and didn't lost the remap, so I think it depends on when last BMW remap was released (==> put in the new Progman)

So what have we learned here...

When DD says "don't listen to me", that's wise advice

And the funny thing is I will have to pay again, lol, "because after 3 years is a lot of time to do it free".
Just 50% discount.

I found a guy in Lituania that would do the remap for EUR200, sending via email the remap extracted from the car, he promised 16 kW... I think I will go with my man saying I can give him 250. If they won't be enough for him I will choose the lituanian.

I like the good old days where a remap came in the form of an EPROM which was pretty much a permanent remap until you put the original EPROM back in

might have some thing to do with the new ISTA/p system, it insists on a full re-code of the whole car no matter what, it was introduced at v33.

Is there any way of checking which program the car currently has?
