Hey everyone, I just need a little input. I have a used CAS, DME and KOMBI installed in my car now. All the used parts are from the same car so everything was plug and play basically. Car drives fine, windows doors, remote all work fine.
My question is: If I changed the VIN in the CAS and DME to my VIN, will the key still work? The key when read at the dealer shows all the info for the car that the parts came from not the info from my car.
Any info about the KOMBI would also be helpful, so far I have read that you cannot change the VIN in the KOMBI without replacing a chip, not sure if that is the truth or not.
Any input will be appreciated. Thanks

I have heard the same stuff. Never tried.
Can you not just try changing the VIN one module at a time? If the key doesn't work, you can always put back the old VIN. And try to code KOMBI last.
I have read about people changing VINs to retrofit idrive components from E90 to E60s successfully.

The key/key fob is tied to the CAS, i take it you have the key/keyfob from the other car as well?. When ordering a brand new CAS a new set of keys/key fobs have to be ordered as well.

I know the Key Fob is tied to the CAS I am wondering if it reads the CAS automatically so it would just pickup the new VIN and still start the car. I could do one module at a time but that doesn't really give me an answer before hand. Good suggestion to use the old VIN if it doesn't work but I am scared that the car may not start either way. I see so many used CAS for sale I figured someone might know something.
