This will be my third U.S. import. 4 year warranty will remain in place, but US CPO warranty won't work in Canada. Nor will the free maintenance.
There's a 6% duty, and a $200 fee to the Registrar of Imported Vehicles (everything you need to know is on their website).
The procedure, though detailed, is pretty straightforward. Must have daytime running lights, km/hr speedo, and no outstanding recalls.
The main advantages of U.S cars are a much larger selection, somewhat better price, and if it's a southern car, no roadsalt exposure. But, they tend to have higher mileage and, of course, you have to get them home. I try to make a vacation out of it.
