I drive a 6 speed 545i and agreed to a certain extent. CDV and non-lsd is my biggest complaint (seriously WTF bmw??). Other than that, the car handles and pulls better than 90% of the vehicles on the road. Not to mention it still looks great and gets very respectable mpg for a v8 sedan. So I can forgive a bit.

Definitely yes, with the same configuration (such as Sports Package).
In theory, its a yes also: 530 is a lighter car, and is more balanced (closer to 50/50 weight balanced than 550 is)
What makes you think 550 Sport handles better than 530 Sport? Keep in mind I was not talking about speed. You should agree faster 0-60 doesn't automatically mean better handling if you are not on drugs.

I have no throttle lag whatsoever and the low end torque is sufficient for my driving needs. I have a tune and removed the CDV (that piece of trash!) and my car drives like a dream. I've previously owned an E46 M3 as well, and honestly hated the sport button, but I did not track my car nor am I an experienced race car driver. My only gripe is the shifting is like rowing a boat... agh!
Try getting a tune and have the CDV removed, I'm sure you'll be happier. It's a happy medium!
