Posted this in the e61 section but no suggestions yet so I thought I'd try here.

I recently had to replace the famed diversity amplifier on my e61. Brand new BMW part. Got the remote working again, yea...distance range still sucks and radio reception is still limited. I have a 2000 e39 touring, with 225k miles on it. I still haven't replaced the remote battery and the range distance easily puts the e61 to shame along with radio reception.

Any suggestions on improving this? I read one post where someone seemed to have wired up something that increased range, but saw no details so didn't follow exactly what the guy did. Anyone have some ideas?

There are some metal contacts between the diversity antenna and the rear mirror foe connection to antenna wires there. You should clean it from rust as well. .

I am in even worse situation. Bought a brand new diversity antenna just to realize its 315hz while mine is 868Hz. Shame!

Sorry to hear about your situation. Any idea why they have different frequencies?
