So I had a service done on my e60 and one thing that was broken was the idler/timing pulley's, the one on the top middle of the circuit I believe. I forget the other name of it. I also had the drive belt replaced. The problem was this idler pulley was bent so the belt was riding half off the pulley but otherwise seemed fine on rest of pulleys.
I got this repaired and also got a fuel system flush. I got my car home and noticed my heat came on so hot and fast that I thought my engine was overheating and was thinking the dealer messed something up. I checked engine temp by accessing the computer and went on a long drive and found engine temp to be perfect. My heat used to take way long to heat up and then never got that hot. Did not care all that much but now it is instantly hot almost. How could a pulley or belt have fixed this. Can someone explain how heater works?<div align='center'></div>

I think he's talking about HVAC heat not the seat heating function. ![Wassat](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/wassat.gif)

Actually I am being a bit slow. I had the two microfilters replaced 3 weeks ago and realized I had not used the heater since then so do not know if that had a bigger effect. Atleast that would make sense. I lived in a VERY dusty climate for the last 2 years and never had them changed. I am guessing a really dirty blocked microfilter would restrict heat. Is that feasible?
