another reason for driving quickly might be due to the build quality of our cars. last i checked, 90 in my car feels like 50.

My car is about as unique as a toyota corolla around here. In fact, a toyota corolla would be more unique here - I think 5's have outsold them in Bavaria for the last 20 years
Ditto that....

Its funny living in the Greenville/Spartanburg area of SC. There are more BMW's here per capita I think than anywhere else in the US because of the factory. That is a totally unsientific study, and maybe So. Cal and/or Miami or NYC might be close, but there are alot of them around here that is for sure.

I got alot of greif from some of my customers/principles when I bought my first e39, but once I explained to them (and to my wife) that since one of my biggest customer's biggest customer is the BMW plant here it made it a little more acceptable. I was concerned about the image that your customers might think you are making too much money off of them, but a couple of my friends always say that deep down people want to do business with people who are successful so as long as you arent a jerk about it it never hurts to look the part.

As for the middle fingers, yes, I get more in my 545 than I do in my "fun" car. A Mustang convertible with racing stripes, hood pins, a blower, and 20" wheels. People look at that car, smile, give me thumbs up, "nice car" at red lights, etc. In the beemer? Everyone wants to cut me off, purposely move to the left lane and go 5 under the speed limit, or otherwise be general pricks. In the Mustang? I can be driving just as aggressively, even faster, and people will wave with all 5 fingers when I pass. I just don't get it.
This is so true man. I don't understand it, either. My friend just bought a 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8. He will get waves and cheers as he drives by. Me? Rare is the day that I will have a thumbs up at a stoplight or something like that. Also, I will encounter people who make it their goal to cut me off, drive slow in front of me, or not give me the right of way. I JUST DON'T GET IT!

Lets just face it, we're all elitist, jagoff, self-centered mother-fers.

I'm going to go have a beer now. Cheers.

we are all dicks.... you can be a self proclaimed whatever you want, however PERCEPTION is in the eyes of the perciever... how you are percieved is well... how you probably are. Now? do you care how people percieve you? this can compound and make you more of a dick unintentionally

That is a little peice of "Craigs Late Night Wisdom"
