First of all check the mpg the old fashion way. Fill up and set your trip to 0. Take a long freeway drive if possible, where you can get on the freeway and go at a fairly consistent speed. If possible, drive a couple of hundred miles. Fill the tank the same way and calculate your mpg.

You probably are driving very short distances. I get about 15mpg on a 2004 530i manual, upshifting at 2500 to 3000 rpm but my commute is only 3 miles each way. But when I drive it on the freeway, I can get it past 22mpg on a tankful with those short commutes included in the calculation.

My old 530 got over 30mpg highway....averaged 22-24 in mixed driving.

I'ts the steptronic 530i. I just recently got it up to 11 miles per gallon. Before it used to be 8 miles per gallon. I use the a/c occasionally because I'm in New York, so sometimes is hot and sometimes is not. But I really have to do something about this. Paying $4.60 a gallon of premium gas and having this problem is a real killer to my pockets.

There is definitely something wrong with your car.
I think the Ferrari Enzo is rated at about 11 mpg. The 530i automatic is rated around 21/29 city/highway.
How many miles are on your car? Have you changed the air filter? Does it run smoothly when you drive it?
Did you do anything to your car to get the mileage from 8 mpg to 1 mpg?
Have you had a mechanic look at it?

have a 2007 530 and I get about 22 mpg city/hw driving with the ac on. I wouldn't say I'm a lead foot, but I'm usually not following any car for that lond
