Who used winter wheels?
I'm on my 4th RWD Bimmer here in Minnesota..
Would never be caught dead in the winter w/out dedicated snows...Remember, it's not just for snow & ice, but for colder temperatures in general too. Different rubber compound makes all the difference in the world.
If you don't want to take my word for it, just try driving around that next winter storm in your rwd bimmer...I guarantee you a scary ride

So obviously winter is coming and this will be the first one that I won?t have a four wheel drive truck/suv and am getting a little nervous about it. I live in Columbus, Ohio and we don?t get much snow but we do get it. Does everyone who needs them use winter tires or can you get by without them? Also, if I do get them I will probably get a set to go with my stock 18? wheels. Is that too big should I downgrade a size to 17?s. Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated as I have no knowledge of this. Thanks everyone.
I live in Norway, and in the wintertime we drive with winter tyres. I tried 17" 225 Dunlop Graspigs and they where fantastic.

Phinally - Im closer to you in MI.
I use the OEM 17s and definitely reccommend you change to a winter tyre setup. The difference is night and day. You will hardly ever see your DSC/DTC kick in and the car will feel more secure on snow and icy roads.
If you've got the money to spare, I would suggest getting a dedicated set of rims/tyres for the winter. I, on the other hand, don't and change out my OEM 17" rims every November to the winter setup {i use hankooks and they work great}.
Once you feel and taste the difference, you will not go back!
