that's about what mine were from Amazon, OE Hellas. The only difference was the lack of the "BMW DYNAMIC XENON" embossing on the bezels, but since I was replacing the pair I didn't mind. Did you have to replace yours because of shoddy wiring insulation like me?

I had bad wiring but I tapped everything back up 4 yrs ago and never had an issue again. I did not like the haze on the lights and fixed them a couple of times with lacquer paint but i would have to redo them every year to keep them looking new. Luckily my wife was in a fender bender and the collision shop had to replace one which cost $1500. I told them i found the pair for $1300 (new from am-autoparts which were OE Hellas) and could I just buy them and they put them on. They put them on and refunded me $200 since the one they would have bought cost $1500. I then asked if I bought new fog housing and cover would they put those on and they did. They were the best shop I dealt with because they replaced a lot of things they should not have just for a fender bender.

The reason why I choose to buy from am-autoparts is because they warranty all parts for 10 years. Which is the best warranty anyone will ever offer. Now I do not buy all my parts from there. I weigh my options and cost and make a decision. But the lights I definitely wanted the 10 year warranty

There was someone on Ebay selling new lenses for less than 200 bucks, don't know if they are still selling.

Hella is the OEM. Amazon, FCPEuro and others sell them for a lot less than $1000. I would n't buy used lights, personally, because the the wiring insulation is already failing.

I have replaced a lot of headlight housings on my BMWs over the years. The main problem with used housings since for the E60/61 is that you don't know until you plug them in whether the Adaptive headlights work or not (if you have them). Most of the units you buy will not include electronics so you will have to swap those out from your current housings. But the motors in the housings will come with what you buy. If they have been excessively jostled, they may not work properly. Swapping out the motors from your old set to a new set is a real pain but it is do-able.

Note that you will almost certainly need to calibrate the headlights using DIS/INPA or at the dealer.

The good news, I think, is that you don't have to remove the whole front bumper cover to replace the housing (like I had to do on my E90....).

I just put a favorite search on the specific headlight housings on eBay and waited until some showed up for an acceptable price. I eventually got two good ones for $300 each.

Hope that helps.

I went ahead with these LCIs from ebay. Seller has good rep, good description. No ballasts, but I can just transfer my old ones over, hopefully.

can you please elaborate on this? They headlights are adjusted (vertically and horizontally) through mechanical screws in the housings. what needs to be calibrated in INPA? are you only referring to the AHL feature?
