I keep mine in the sunglass holder and put it the driver's door pocket.
Same me.

My Ride: '04 545iS 6 spd, bought new via eBay, 11/05; Blk/Gry, Cold, L7, PDC, BMW Rear seatcover for pets. First "Bumwa" was a new 1971 2002. High performance 5s since 1987. Beamer motorcycles too, currently on an 07 BMW K1200 GT; also a Moto Guzzi 1000 SP III.

Mine are the pilot style (not big aviator) and fit in the center console slot below the CD player (maybe for a couple of CDs?) And then, my small cell phone (closed) rides in front of them. I have the BTUM in the console cell phone tray; tried keeping them buried down under there, but that's too difficult to get to.

So that's what the felt-lined tray in the door is for? I always thought that the replacement of the 540's dedicated coin cylinders, so the coins wouldn't slide around and make noise. To each his own.

Bottom line: I sure miss having some sort of tray in the center console. Kinda like having to carry a beanbag ashtray in my first 2002, since the radio took up the ashtray slot in the console. :'(

Cheers,
Ray Hull

I put mine between the visor and the ceiling of the car...when the visor is in the closed position as in not being used i just slip them up there. It sucks though when I lower the visor and forget they are there and they come crashing down. I need a better solution, although it is convenient. My felt lined door tray is full of loose change and stuff.

That solution might be to tuck one leg (bow) of your glasses under that wide flat belt that is up there on the visor. Not perfect but they won't fly into your lap.

But why? We do have a coin holder. As I always keep the cover from the cigarette lighter open (I need to power my PDA), I keep my coins (and RedBull or Coke caps) in the ashtray. No one every smokes in my car, so it's perfect for coins.

Well, it rattles...

Anyways, it's an ashtray. Why didn't they put a coinholder in?

My SA once said laughing: 'Because an E60 owner only has bills, no coins'.

I'm from Gothenburg, Sweden, where the sun don't shine. At least not during the fall, winter and spring when we have rain most of the time. I keep my sunglasses in the glovebox and use them only a few times every year. It's more important to keep the ice scraper in the door compartment. And then there's cell phone, ipod, Garmin N?vi etc. We keep adding up more stuff that we need to place somewhere in the car

I might be a little late on this one, but I keep mine in the drivers door bottom pocket.

i keep mine in the bottom middle shelf under the climate controls. Its lined with rubbery bumpy surface to grip or trap from golf balls to your cell phone.
I do, too, only I find that in spirited acceleration, they fly off that little shelf. Happens every now and then....

With the right case you can tuck it in between the handbrake AND console, that is where I keep mine.
