I guess that because this is an enthusiast's site there is a disproportunate amount of 550 owners. After all, out of all the E60s that is the enthusiast's model. On the road, however, things are different. I have seen maybe 1/2 dozen 545s and have yet to see ONE other 550. ANd yes, I do pay attention. Lot of 525 and 530s though.

I've noticed the same thing with E39's. Very few 540's and only a small handful had the sport package. Now looking at the E60's on the road it's all 525 and 530's but very few with sport package. I guess I'll be part of the majority soon.

It would be nice to know where you are from!?
I have seen three 545iA's overhere, one with Swedish plates.
The 3 litre diesel (530d) is the best buy and the 530i the second best,
that's in Europe.
With the gas prices going up the diesels will come to the US as well.
V8's are not that hot in EU even if they give the ultimate performance.
Look for the new gas 3 litre twin-turbo inline 6, consuption under 10 l / 100 km!

Same here in Sweden, the 525 is the most common followed by the 530. I have seen maybe 10 545 and a couple of 535d. Only one of two 550 thou

Same here. The 550's seem pretty rare because before I went to the dealer for a test drive, I had never seen one. In fact, I have spotted about 4 M5s on the road, but not a single 550i. From what I heard, at the beginning of this year, BMW had sold more M5s than 550s, I don't know if that's still ture though.

I totally agree. The M5 is much more common than the 550. I've read that they sold 100 M5 in Sweden 2005 but I don't know how many 550 but many fewer thou I can promise

I think I've seen about the same amount of M5s and 545s on the road... I have yet to see a 550.

The fact is, the 550s account for only about 10% of the 5-series sales, so they are rare.

It was true until the last two months. In both Feb and March the 550 FINALLY outsold the M5. I have yet to see a 550 on the road (not a bad thing) - but there are like 4 members on thie board that have them in the Chicago area.
The fact is, the 550s account for only about 10% of the 5-series sales, so they are rare.
