My Ride: 2005 Alpine White 545i 6 speed manual, Auburn Interior, Dinan intake, RDSport exhaust.

i just wanted to see if i could get some opinions and info here. i have a 2005 545i sport/manual with the stock 18" sport wheels (124's i think). i've been thinking of upgrading to new, lighter wheels, and some new tires. the RFT's are killing me.

my first question is if i should go up to 19 inches. i would like to, but i am cautious that even though the profile size on the 19" (35 front, 30 rear) would be shorter than the 18" (40 front, 35 rear) tires, that the over all tire will be taller with the 19" than the 18". that would in turn gear the car taller and make it accelerate more slowly. could someone let me know if the 19 is taller than the 18 with the lower profile tires?

i know the M5 has the 19's but those are definitely taller with the tire which would changing the gearing. and i'm not sure if the M5 is possibly geared differently than the 545 sport. it probably is. i would love to put a set of the dinan gears in my car but really can't justify spending the money.

any insight would be great. thanks!

Here's a great site for comparing +1, +2, and +3 wheel/tire upgrades,
http://www.bigcustomwheels.com/info_specs.jsp

This provides you with the height differences. Give it a try.
There's also an offset option (which isn't very visible in FF),
but you probably won't need it for your concerns.

cool, thanks! so i guess for the rear tires a 275/35/18 is the same overall size as a 275/30/19. interesting. that was really my biggest concern.

i'm not sure. i have the stock 124's and the sport package. i would love to find someone with some 19's they would want to trade plus cash. maybe someone turning in their lease. i just have a hard time justifying a new wheel and tire package price wise.

i love the way the dinan wheels look and the weight is awesome. i would definitely want something forged, and either brushed finish or the anthracite powder coating, or something similar.

if anyone has anything they are selling or would consider a partial trade, please let me know.

thanks.
