Please take a look at these wheels... These tires (Talon Triangle 968) and wheels (unknown brand made in China) are what came on my car. I'm getting ready to purchase a bunch of upgrades to my 535xi and am currently planning on purchasing VMR 710's with General UTP tires. What do you think of the wheels pictured below... Be honest... I really don't care one way or another. Thanks!

I dont really like it... looks like a starfish snatched onto the wheel... But I've seen worse.
|
That sums up my opinion also. They aren't horrible but I don't like them. Go with the VMR's.

If you go with the V710's, make sure you get the HIGH OFFSET since you have the xi model. You don't want the standard offset. It won't work with your car. You need to run the following 710 specs on your car:
If you already knew that, then disregard what I just told you ;). |
Just looks kind of busy with all the bolts.....
710s are the way! B |

They have a sort of stockish look (99.9% of the population won't care to know the difference) - they are the type of wheel that neither attracts particular attention, yet does not alert and trend police.
If I saw them in person, and noticed the car was AWD, I would think to myself, "How many options are there if you need to stay away from staggered?" I think you could drop that car an inch and pull those wheels off all day long. The plus size is they are better than the stock sport wheels (IMO) and you don't ever need to stress about curbing or damaging them. At least keep them until you burn through the tires assuming you have good tread. You won't get much for them either way. |

If this were true, then I should call BMW right now and tell them that my new X5 4.8 Sport with 20" wheels is going to damage the xDrive system in the car, due to the staggered set-up they designed (275's in the front, 315's in the rear on style 214 OEM wheels. If you go with style 215 OEM wheels, which are 21" wheels, for the 4.8, they run 285's and 325's, respectively). Shoot, I better call them ASAP! :P ;)  Also, I ran staggered on my 2007 530xi Sport for 2+ years and the car was great. I also lowered it too with the H&R XI Springs to lose the ugly gap that the AWD E60's have. That too, made a world of a difference in the handling, but that's another story. Since this topic is about wheels, he should do the 710's and do them in a staggered set-up. |
It's what I was always told with my A4 Quattro. Maybe it's a myth, but when I was putting 19's on it everyone said stay away, something about potential damage to the transfer case. Perhaps technology has evolved since then, good news!

Why does he need to stay away from staggered????????? I find it so funny when people say this. It's completely false.
