The recent posts on another topic got me thinking and thumbing through the stuff I have on the E60. Does anyone else think that BMW really messed up with the wheel choices, at least in the US? The standard wheels for both with and without sport package are pretty bad. I'm not sure if euro or far-east have the same set, but in US, it's...

525i (style 134) 525i sport (style 122)

530i (style 138) 530i sport (style 123)

545i (style 116) 545i 6speed (style 124)

IMO, only the 545i-6speed is at all good looking. The 3 series seem to have much more interesting wheels. Unfortunately for me, the 530 sport (my choice) has the worst (plainest) looking ones (to me, anyway). Oh, well, the rest of the car is growing on me, and I'll spend more time inside than looking at the outside.

The 525 (style 134) is ugly ....(to me only ). All the 520i comes standard with it. It is 16" size...and you know, e60 is a big car, with this 16" rim really makes it dull...

honest, all the wheels look much different in person. Not saying that they're all nice, but half of them are, specifically both 530i rims and the 545 sport (style 124). I personally like 124 and 138.

I really like the 124 style wheels, but those cost 3.600 euro more than the standard wheels. That's a little to much for better looks. So ordered standard (134, aiiiks), maybe aftermarket BBS wheels.

i hv driven the 138 wheels...n they really look good. the problem is not wif the wheels in my opinion...but rather the wheel arches of this car makes any wheels under 19" looks puny. go n look at the hamann 19 n 20" after mkt wheels...they look the best...especially the 20".

perhaps...we shud all keep the std wheels n change to after mkt wheels. in singapore, u can actually downgrade to the lousiest wheel and get cash back...then spend it on after mkt wheels.

on hindsight i do regret not doing that. even the 124 doesnt look like its big enuff to feel those fenders.

To my mind the car needs the 18's or it gets that look that new pickups have where the tires simply dont seem to fill out the wheelwells properly. The larger wheels do give it a more aggresive look but having those would make me cringe every time I hit a pothole.

To me, style 116 is the ultimate nightmare when it comes to cleaning the wheel. Very hard to clean the brake dust between the spokes. I go for a wheel that is easy to clean.
