I just drop my 05' 545i (w/ Sport Package - Active Steering) to my dealer this morning for SunRoof closing crack noise (from Tilt Mood to close). The service advisor check my Dunlop run flat tire and told me they will give me 4 new tires free of charge because of excessively wearing on the indisde edges. Also do the "Perform Recall 12 11 05" ( I got this description from the job order form) - I think it might be the software upgrade because I told the advisor my i-Drive freeze once a while.
Its a nice thing for dealer offer such service
, BUT, they ask me to do another "Wheel Alignment" on my own cost. They told me the wheel alignment for Active Steering cars are very different from others without. The service fee is USD $375.
YES, $375 .... I think its way to expensive.
I call several dealer at So. California and get quote as follow,
Shelly BMW - $199
Crevier BMW - $375
Irvine BMW - $390
South Bay BMW - $600
Anyone have idea why price so different for Alignment? How about the "Perform Recall 12 11 05?
I will post again after I got my car back this afternoon or tomorrow. Like to hearing from you guys for comment!!

I had that same cost, but the dealer insisted that I wouldn't need an alignment after the new tires, I found that odd and asked that when or if my snow tires have uneven wear that it's because of the alignment being off, but he said that wouldn't happen. But he quoted me I think around 375 dollars to do the alignment if I wished to do so.

Here in Orlando, FL at Fields BMW in Winterpark, they charged us $130 for a 4 wheel alignment on our E60 530i. Yes ours has the sport package and active steering system. Non active steering BMW's they charge $90. I guess we have it easy here in Florida.

Welcome, and good deal on your good dealer. I am not completely sure why the alignment should be on you unless there is evidence that you have done something to cause your car to need an alignment.
