I have been reading lately that a lot of people really like the backup camera feature on many cars like the Infiniti, etc. Personally, I don't understand this. I have seen back up camera images before and think they are difficult to decipher. I greatly prefer PDC which, in my experience, works way better at warning of obstacles when backing up. Am I missing something here??

I had both (PDC & backup cam) on my 545i and absolutely loved it 
The back up cam added another dimension to reduce the possible risk hitting something behind the car when backing up.

The back up cam added another dimension to reduce the possible risk hitting something behind the car when backing up.The camera is helpful in very tight parallel parking situations too, but I really like it because our boys are 2 & 4 and they can be anywhere in a blink.
Nearly bought a 535xit, and still may... but the toys in the Jeep (including the 420 hp V8!) have made it easier to be BMW-less for a bit. Actually (aside from the $$), the toys are a bit of what won me over to the SRT.

Well that is already fact. Yet they are still out there on the road so why not give those people who got a D- on their driving test all the help we can give them so they dont crash into ME! Or my kids!
