My Ride: My ex-ride: EU '08 LCI 520dA. Space Grey, Sport Seats in Black Leather/Fabric Anthracite, Sport Steering Wheel, A/C with Extended Features, Hi-Fi Speakers, Cup Holders, Cruise with Braking function, Folding Rear Seats, Xenons, Park Distance Control.
Hi guys,
My car is due for its first service. Yes, after 21 months and 12 k km's. Don't drive that much anymore
It's a LCI 520dA with the 177 hp / 350 Nm engine.
I have had no problems with it at all, but I really would like to have the latest Progman software.
The guarantee will go out 02/10 and after that the software updates will not be free anymore.
Will go with the BMW LL Mobil1 oil.

My Ride: 08 550 Carbon Sport Almost everything factory, but no sound upgrades.
I have been told** to skip an update unless there is some related problem. Maybe a sorry ass answer, but it makes sence to me. If it ain't broke ...

According to info elsewhere in the forum it is ISTA/P 2.33.3
In my understanding 2 stands for ISTA vs Progman, and 33.3 corresponds to the actual version count (the last Progman was 31.02).
I just had my car reprogrammed for the first time since production (Sep 2004), and I barely notice a difference. Only two noticeable things are a bit of different revs when the auto box shifts (for example, at comfortable, steady acceleration it uses now the range 2,100-2,400 rpm instead of 1,700-2,100 before, probably in order not to constantly switch on and off these dreadful swirl flaps and the turbo, which may cause premature wear) and my car plays MP3 discs. That's all folks, for over 5 years of "software silence".
So it might really be pointless for you to do it, especially if they charge you for this.

Thank's guys, once again.
From CIP to Progman and now ISTA
BMW don't like it all that we amateurs know anything about the BMW software failures.
I know that there's a new ISTA for my engine, and since it's a turbo, the upgrade can be noticeable.
