Nice spec and top colour scheme there! ? Whats the Remote Control option? Also I'd be interested to know what models you test drove before ordering. Another words what drew you to the petrol model over diesel - sound, power delivery etc.?
I just dont do enough miles to really give me a huge economy benefit. A friend of mine has a 535d and swears by it so I know its a really great car.

Last week's AutoExpress did a report on the cost difference (Petrol vs Diesel) between a whole host of cars from all sectors. They took into account all costs, including fuel, insurance, servicing, depreciation etc. etc. and working out a 'break even' cost.

On a car like the 530i/530d they said that was LESS THAN 2,000 miles/year!!! Basically it makes more sense with diesel the bigger the car is... (For example in a Vauxhall Corsa you need to do about 14,000 miles/year)

When I first bought my 530d it was the same price as the 530i and with servicing only costing ?200 for 19,500 miles it was a no brainer as far as I was concerned.

Yes thinking back it was a fiver less now - How did the 530i cost ?5 more I'd love to know - extra nuts and bolts or something

The price of a new 530d soon overtook that of the 530i due to UK customer demand.

I will do a maximum of 8000 miles a year in the car as I tube it to work and my wife has her own car. If the break even is 2000 miles, the additional cost of running the petrol over 6000 is very small and not enough for me to give up the smoothness and power of the petrol 6 cylinder engine. Even at 8 mpg better consumption on the diesel the extra cost is about ?285 a year.

Understand, but you'll be missing all that torque!!! 500Nm sold it for me...

Any choice is a good choice though!

Yup the torque would have been good to have but its all down to personal preference. There are good arguments for both the diesel and petrol engines - at the end of the day I dont think anyone will be dissapointed with either.

? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? 530i? ? ?? 530d
0-62 mph: 7.1sec? ? 7.3sec
50-75mph: 10sec? ? 6.7sec

Mine is a used car, with the spec I have. I just cannot find a 530d at a similar price. I'm talking at least GBP3000 more.
