Guys

I removed the swirl flaps on my 530d at lunchtime and when had it all back together, I had the wee bracket below left over!

If anyone can recognise it and tell me where it goes I would be very much appreciative!

Reminds me of a bumper clip from around the wheel well. I'm no expert at all, but my old 335 was rear ended six months ago and a few thing looking like that were left on the freeway. The bumper essentially bowed out on the sides away from the impact and a few things like that popped off.

Also the international nature of this site is great. I have no idea what that coin is, so the dimensions are tough, but as a ex-pat kiwi living in the US i do recognize the Queen

I think it is a bracket to hold the engine cover.

Many thanks Guys...

I have not refitted the engine cover before I found a home for it....

I knew it was not off the inlet manifold as I stripped that (cleaned egr etc) on the bench, and this part was in the tray beside the car.

I will look closley tomorrow and get it back together.

I have a wee problem with the way the drivers side (UK) pollen filter housing is fitted - was like that when I got the car...so will start a new thread about that... does not look obvious why its not fitting...

THANKS GUYS

David

Hmm... went out this morning... and checked... and all cover fastners are present and correct!

What bolt does this attach to? Was it one of the manifold bolts?

I do notice that the injector wiring loom is different on yours...mine, the loom runs OVER the manifold towards the batter +ve terminal - as an aside... ;-)

I will go have ANOTHER look... its deffo from the "top side" as these bits were sorted in a different tray... so no way is it a manifold off job thankfully... I just hate "revisiting" jobs due to incompetence!

I did look in ETK to try and spot the bracket and it looks like some covers are in two pieces - with the second bit being at the back... mine is only one bit...

If I dont find it this time, I will post a picture or two!

Yes it is attached under one of the manifold bolts; the third one from the rear.

Spot on!

My cover is missing the rear wee section (perhaps a Uk variation...?) so the bracket si doing nothing.

Its back on where it should be now.

Many thanks for helping out - that was very much appreciated.
