Whats going to be different on the E60 550i
#1
I am in furious negotiations now on a replacment vehicle for my early 05 is totally falling apart to no end.
Today the dealer GM said maybe we would have to get you into a 550
but they are not expected until October some time.
They said the transmisison and engine hessitation problems on the 550 will be 100% solved.
What I want to know.
Did they do any styling changes to the Sport, different wheels, bumpers anything?
If they take my car back do I have to get another one or can I just walk away?
I hate to get another 05 and have it be a Shop Queen

Tranny and engine problems 100% solved? I think not, especially with a new tranny and and an engine from the X5 4.8is that has been out since 2004.(9/2003)
Other than that some new wheel choices, interior trim and DSC+?

Most likely the only major changes will be the engine. a few modifications here and there but nothing noticeable to the exterior or interior. Like 530ii said, a few extra options, etc. etc.
The new engine should be a big enough modification for us to live with

[/quote]Yes, Car and Driver stated the engine for the New 750i is from the X5 4.8is but with slight intake mods. To be more precise.
But they said 361 hp and 360 ft-lbs of torque?
Hence the "New" V8 engine for the E60 making it a 550i.

Has the GM mentioned anything about the increase over over 05 545?

No mention of any price diff I mean they will retain my current lease just as a trade assist buyback oif some sort
to be honest I rather walk away and have them give me my taxes and up front fees and call it a day.
But if they offer me this new 550 I will take it but here is the issue by the time this car arrives Il only have 11 months left on the lease so in the meantime I pay over 2k to drive this POS until then, Its still not a resolution in my eyes yet.
If this wont work in my favor the NYS lemon law will ensure I get a monetary settlement, and once again car goes into the shop next week for a another 5-7 days. I cant stand this anymore.
What I am seriously thinking is a Preowned Maserati
Hey its expected to break its an Italian Car, the Germans have brilliant engineering but terrible quality lately go figure the tradeoffs here.
Maserati is far from a daily practical NY car but what the hell, they depreciate like bullets low 50k range gets you super nice low mile car with Ferrari inspired handling and driveline.
As long as it has a warranty I wont mind a bit

My Ride: 2003 X5 3.0----->gone
2004 Porsche Cayenne S : Gemballa front and back bodykit, fabspeed bypass pipes, Gemballa exhaust pipes, full option, 20" factory sport design rims------>gone
2005 545i 6-spd manual---->de-badged, CDV removal, Autosolutions short shift kit, resonator removal, premium package, PDC, xenon, almost full options, hardwire V1 install ....looking for mods...
2007 550i 6-spd----> Premium package, sport package, Logic7, heated everything, Rogue Engineering SSK, CDV removal, hardwire V1 install, aFe cold air intake, Custom Magnaflow exhaust....
I was wondering...how would the 550i compare to the e39M5?? I tried racing with my friend's M5....of course I lost....but not as much as I expected....so I would wonder if the 550 would be as fast if not faster than the E39 M5.....which I tihnk is a wonderful car.

My GM told me today that although they are talking about Sept build, it would be later in the year, say December before I could take delivery. He mentioned a price increase, and I responded with probably just a coulpe grand huh? He said at least that much. So who knows.
I would expect new wheels for the 550. With infiniti offering 19 inch wheels on the M45, don't be surprised if the 550 does not have that option. thats what I am hoping anyway, but again, who knows.
