Lol get an iPad and you'll to recognize the difference. It's not about functionality, it's about ease of use and ergonomics. I've never showcase so many YouTube videos in my life. Especially diy while inside the car... Here's nothin like a portable monitor... And laptops jus are too cumbersome sometimes.... But no it's not the all time solution to mobile networking, ere will always be something better.

Its too expensive for what it is...

would I buy one....no. Would rather buy something similar that will multi-task properly, external memory support and have excellent connectivity out of the box.

Im not knocking people who have bought one.... Its not got the wow factor the original ipod or iphone had for me...

maybe I'll get one of the next gens if they sort their act out....

Just out of interest what apps have people bought?

In order to see it's usefulness, you have to stop thinking of it as a computer replacement. It was never designed as one, hence it's need to dock to a computer to activate synch etc.... I don't have one because I don't need one at the moment.

Here is one example of how it could excel: As a musician, I could use this in place of sheet music and keep all my scores electronic as opposed to carrying around a couple of THICK books. Instead of taking my hands off the instrument for a couple of beats, I can do a quick swipe instead of a pinch / grab / flip.

It is very useful in the correct context. If you are trying to use it as a computer, not so much.

I take mine to class, use it for notes/research. I have a big desktop computer (not exactly portable) so i use the ipad for everything else! it takes up little spaces in my bag, i can take it when i travel, works great!

I am loading approach plates and airway routs on mine for a back up. It also works through the ipod interface in the 550, although why some of you geek boys can't figure out how to stream video through the port is mystifying... I still have no idea what the practical use of the ipad is, but it is cool, it rocks, and I can get planes and porn on it..what the hell else is there?
