In the words of Jerry Seinfeld; "What's the deal with Night Vision"? Didn't Cadillac have this feature four or five years ago? I am sure it is going to cost $2,000 or so, what is the point? I don't believe it did/has gone over very well with the Caddy's. Why would BMW want this technology. They would have been better off upgrading their navigation system. Anyone want to comment on night vision?

 

I believe that BMW will be the first to integrate this into their car. I am ordering it, I dont want to try to retrofit this after my purchase.

 

I had it on my 2000 Cadillac DTS .... came in very handy on the Eastern Long Island Roads for deer. Not much use on congested roads or city driving. Even cars ahead of me were silhouted in a light gray, but it did have a wide spectrum so you can partially see the sides of the road ahead of you. Would come in handy here in the North Hills of Pittsburgh as well.

 

Just another way to make money on a fancy, marginally useful option.

 

Where did you guys hear about the Night Vision for Bmw? I haven't seen it or heard of it its my first time hearing it for BMW i do know that Benz has it for the new S550.

 

"Marginally useful?" Do you know how many deer are set to jump their fuzzy little asses out in front of the car, while you're on they way to dine at the Ritz Carlton?

Yup, that's why I'm getting the Invisible Forcefield option on my M5. Deer guts are a b!tch to clean.

 

Not sure about the validity of night vision. I think the need to divert attention from the road ahead would offset any claimed safety benefits.

 

I agree. Who wants to keep glancing down at night to the computer screen? I have not hit any pedestrians in the 38 years that I have been driving. Pedestrians know better than to walk in the street at night. This is another worthless, expensive option.

HUD by the way is a worthwhile expensive option.
