I have ahd my E60 e60 for over a year and I am running Mobil-1 10w40.

German Castrol 0w30 full synthetic. The same stuff that BMW brands as their own high performance synthetic.

I'm running whatever they put in the car when they certified it. Heh, they do change the oil, right?!

BTW

I use the BMW-branded oil, I buy from the dealership's parts dept, use my discount, comes out to about 5.75/qt. The oil is the same thing [allegedly] as the Castrol Synthetic 0w30, if I'm not mistaken. But there are SO many threads on this subject - no one can recap everything that has been said for you - your best option really is to
