what is that smell????

Hey guys...
Lately, when i drive with my window down or get out of the car, it smells like burning rubber....
I'm not sure what it could be...is this a generic car smell that is hinting at a specific problem?
Within the last month i've had my valve gaskets, spark plugs replaced...and was quoted as having a leaky transmission pan...but turns out the drain plug was just loose...
any help is always appreciated

Funny enough i used to had that problem on my old car, not BMW. I was noticing it after a... fast session through the corners. It was the tyres. Never bothered to look into it more. It can also be the clutch but it usually give out a stange smell not very rubbery (?).

might be a plastic bag on ur catalytic convertor. I am the MOST experienced person at this. LOL. I have countless times that bags get stuck under my cat and it smells like burning rubber. Check underneath ur car. If you see a bag, just wait a month or so. It's a sucker to rip that melted/WELDED piece of plastic off

They may not have thoroughly cleaned wherever your leaking valve cover & transmission oil went. Probably finding its way to exhaust system or other hot areas and burning off now.
