What do you want in a car? Does the M5 or 550 fit the bill better? Just because the M5 is more expensive and faster doesn't make it a better car for you, just make sure it serves your purpose. This forun tends to be performance orientated so thats why you got the responses you did here.
I've driven the M5, M6 and M3 at full 10/10th's on a race track, sometimes the M3 is the fastest way around.

Do what I do when I've got a dilly of a pickle to ponder.
Go to the bar, have a few pints of porter and then let your mind wander.
Halt the wander with a couple of whiskeys and then back to the porter.
Then write the answer down on a napkin and that will be the correct choice.
The next day, when you wake up in the shed and realise you don't have the napkin, just ring the local bar and find out if he kept it and also if he knows where your shoes are.
If he did, go in and read it and thats the choice.
While your there you might as well have a few pints......

It's got to be M5 !!!!!! 10 years down the road when we are driving electric cars, you can reminisce about driving 'the beast' and die happy.
Just my opinion.

If you're swimming in money, do the M5. If you ever have to wonder what's in your checking account, don't.

Sounds like you've made the decision already. But yeah, if it's your daily, can't say I can push you towards M5. I spoke to a member recently, and he mentioned that he pretty much fills up every other day. His gas expense a month is at least $600. That's just insanity to me.

Idrive isn't covered under CPO warranty for any car, so how would that be different than extending the warranty on your 550?
