It's the outside temperature sensor for sure -- the location of it my vary depending on whether or not the M-Sport package is installed...

Or......

could it be the sensor on the Advanced Air Con that does the auto-recirculation?!

(My money is with the Temp guage though!)

Now why would they put the temp guage right in front of the radiator and so close to the engine?. You would think that in such position it could lead to misleading readings, right?

That's not the radiator, that's the air conditioning condenser.

All I know is that the temperature reading is pretty accurate...

Contrary to what I said yesterday I checked again and my car does have this sensor in that position!!

And I though I new every screw in my car!!

it is pitot tube to register speed above 300kph if your e60 does go that fast... jezz kidding

anyway it is the temperature thermo-couple... don't believe? got get a hair dryer and blow the hell out of the temperature readout!
