Purchased first bmw (05 525i) and admit I did not go through every feature with the salesman. Guess I was overwhelmed by the looks of the car. Now that I have time, I am going through each feature listed in the owners manual. In that manual I see really cool stuff like HUD, Active Cruise Control, Navigation but when I go to try them out, I find they are not there. The control may be there in some cases but the feature is not enabled (i.e. active cruise). I submitted my vin to BMW and they gave me the basics of the car but not the details of what options are actually in the car. Other than a trip back to the dealer is there a definitive way to figure out exactly what I do have for features?

Thanks

There are plenty of ways to find out what you have and don't have but for time sake and and a complete list you really need to see the proper spec sheet from the dealer......... Good luck, BTW Congratulations

more than likely you have none of those options since your car was the low end model from 05, but still your dealer is the right place to get a print out of the original window sticker.

Thanks for the replies. I dont have the Pro Nav system and as such only have the basic voice command system. What would it take in hardware, programming and cost to add this feature if it can be done at all?

Thanks!

Yes it can be done... nav from the factory costs $1800... that'll give you a perspective... but now after the fact probably somewhere close to the $2500 or $3000 depending if your car is pre-wired for NAV... if it is then its easier to do... Its one of the options... but it might have came standard in 05... I forget.
