What light is this?

Well i just bought my first bmw yesterday..04 530 
I was driving it until this morning i got this light instead of the normal light(arrow pointing to fuel tank).Can some one tell me what this light is ,is something wrong with it cause this is my first bmw, no extended warranty either

Looks like the cruise control set speed display to me (when the cruise control is not set)

press the button on the end of the indicator stalk to rotate through the different displays...

Wrong. But just as harmless: it's the indicator for 'average speed'. Apparently, average speed has been reset, so that it shows only dashes. That will change when you drive a bit.

I think he circled the item to the left of the dashes. It's circled in yellow.

it is indeed the average speed - that's why it has tenths of an mph of course, cruise control just ain't that accurate

Nothing wrong. It's just the average speed in miles per hour. You can change the display to average fuel consumption, last service warning given and other choices.
