I cannot find this indicator listed in my manual so I am asking you folks. In the instrument cluster area right above the large outside temperature display, I intermittently see an icon(?) pop up. It is a yellow triangle with what looks like a round snowflake inside it. It stays on for a few seconds then goes out. I am guessing it is weather related but can't verify it.

Any ideas?

It indicates that the outside temp is low enough to produce icy roads, usually comes on at 3c.

...you should hear a warning gong also, as the display lights up. In the US, it's set for 37F. You could look at the 2008 manual on page 77.

I saw that icon several times on my way back from Las Vegas to Los Angeles. The outside temperature was between 35?F and 38?F in the mountains. That icon showed up everytime when the outside temperature dropped below 37?F. I like that feature.

I not really complaining because it is a good feature, but when I pull out of the garage and that warning goes off every single morning, after a while it's like -- I know I live where the weather is totally crappy 5 months out of the year, but I don't need my car to rub it in!

Thanks for the replies. The manual I have is for 2005 and does not show the icon.

Totally understand that. Just like the PDC, every time when I backup the car from the garage the iDrive screen is replaced by the sensor screen. Sometimes it is very useful but sometimes it is useless or even annoying. I've learned when to pay attention to it and when to ignore it. Computer is never as smart as human.

You do know you can turn the PDC screen off so that it doesn't come up when you put it into reverse don't you?

I GET IT ALSO, WHEN IT GETS COLD, ALSO I NOTICE THAT My car eats slightly more fuel then normal when its in the low temps, especially when starting up!!
