all my old bmws did this i think its law for health and safety, thats what the anti trap errors are about. i stuck my arm out my sun roof and even that bounced back. shit if you get jumped there should be a over ride hack to cut it off at a flick of a switch. lol

i didnt know once car is off keys removed you can push the volume knob and ur tunes start playing the idrive comes on there is a small few sec delay.

See post 15. The over ride is to keep pushing the sunroof switch to close or keep pulling up on the window switch.

It's a pressure sensor from the looks of this. I tried it one day with my hands putting resistance on the window as it was coming up, no stops

i can confirm that it won't cut off your hand if you get it stuck in as the window reaches the top. it applies a bit of pressure then it goes down
had to try it as i disconnected the battery to change the steering wheel trim and then got an error saying side window anti-trap function failure (which was a lie and i knew it).
went away after cycling through the windows once though.

If you're really interested in knowing for sure...simply send the window up in "auto"...and while it's raising, press against the top part of the window frame where a pressure sensor would be....if it stops...there has to be a sensor there.
