Your TPMS saved your ass. You were headed for a major blowout.

True-the alignment may or may not have caused the wear but once the process starts, it's progressive and inevitable. I thus always believe in rotating wheels and frequent alignments (on non Xi) models...but that's a topic for another post!

+2 on the alignment
BMW tire wear patterns are usually greater wear on the inside treads of the rear tires. Do not expect even wear across the tread that you might expect with a solid / non-independent suspension.
So tires may look meaty with plenty of tread but you have to examine the entire tread width. When they get THIS thin it's time to reTIRE them! That said, if the tread wear appears abnormal a good tire technician will or should point that out to you and a wheel alignment may be necessary.

My guess is that the picture is of a rear tire. The negative camber of the rear wheels will cause any tire to wear on the inside faster than on the outside. I can't say much about the the offsets, alignment, inflation pressure, etc. of your car but I can say that even on a normal, properly aligned car, the rear tires will wear that way eventually so it's hard to say if anything is really wrong or not. (I'd say that if something was not right with the offsets, alignment, or pressure, this type of wear may happen sooner than normal...

okay...so I was on the freeway, and suddenly a low tire pressure sign came up.
so I stopped at a gas station to take a look.....and this is how it was omg...
the innerside of the tire was damaged, and as you can see on the last two pics, there were some sort of burned marks.
I have no idea what caused the damage..
fyi, I have style 124 on my 530 xi. I think the offsets of the wheels are too low, compared to the factory offset (43ET).
I purchased them from BMW dealer, and they never asked me for offset or anything like that..
so maybe the burned marks are from rubbing???
I need your opinion guys..
