same happened here not too long ago, shades of purple before it died completely, replacement D1S was about 40$ (dealer asked $333 for bulb + labor), color 4200, DIY took about 10 minutes, save the fancy stuff for your fogs

just changed my pink-ish bulb for a new one, fine now, all were £90, rip off, found one on ebay for £40 in the end.
