it was just there when I entered my VIN...sounds like its not a good source though. I think the best source is going to the BMW dealership and asking for a VIN decode (they should do it free of charge)

Worked fine for me on both the 325 and the 530 - except it showed manual transmission and both are Steptronic.

Both the mentioned link and http://www.realoem.com/bmw/ gives also my car false details,

but at least realOEM can give you a hint of what parts one's possible looking for.
