Well, if your car maker "recommends" 91 then you're fine using 89 if you want. Problem is BMW requires 91+ octane and using the lesser grades ill probably void the warranty if a problem develops with the engine. I use 91 octane - usually 76 or Shell, sometimes Costco -but NEVER Arco, Valero, or the other cheapo ones.

The only warranty I'm going to void is... wait I don't have any

I'll try 91 next time. I've only filled up at shell and I plan to continue that. I've been happy with their product. We have some place called red rabbit around here, and their fuel averages 10 cents cheaper then the hess next door. I think it's half water half fuel. The way my bro's e46 ran after that gas...

i fill up on Shell with their 91 "v power". Works the best for me, and in fact, it solved Rough Idle issue too.
Before i used other gas stations and the car would run rougher. I wouldn't put 89 in it for sure. You bought a BMW but trying to save few cents a gallon sacrifising performance of your car.. i wouldn't do it

Yep, that cheap gas always kills my MPG. Even Chevron, about 2-3 mpg less than shell or 76. Luckily you live in FL, don't you have Sunoco there? You can get 94 octane!!!
Sunoco has 94 octane? did you mean 93?
Can I mess anything up jumping from 89 to 93?

Yes, in the NYC area Sunoco has 94 octane. No, you won't mess anything up by going with better gas. Choosing the cheaper one can lead to all sorts of problems down the line though - like burnt piston rings, etc. Which means $$$$$$$$$$$$
I'll have to call and see if they have 94 here. What's the price diff?
