actually, on 05 models and later you can call BMW and they'll unlock your car for you if for example you locked your keys inside. I dunno about starting the car but should just be a signal sent to the car like "unlock" so i am sure it's possilbe

Actually if you have an automatic transmission you can ad an aftermarket auto start system to the car, however it would be by push button remote and not by calling someone! I am not sure I would want to see the day where I would want to call an 800 number to get my car started though.....
The unlocking feature is neat in case you locked your self out, but the call in start doesnt really make much sense to me.

Makes you wonder huh, if they can unlock your car, start your car, what else can they do remotely ?? Shut down your car at the request of the police etc ??? the mind boggles
