My forum friends, I put myself out on a limb thinking a Bav auto employee would do for me as he said he would do, but the irony is some things he said to get the sale now as I am having problem with his AFE COLD AIR INTAKE and he is avoiding Their warranty so all I can say is buyer beware!
1). What are the forums thoughts on Baverian Auto Sport as a third party BMW Vendor? Do you Trust them to do what they promise in writing they will do?
2). What are the forums thoughts on the AFE COLD AIR INTAKES on our e60s?
a). Do they increase HP?
b), Are our BMW NA warranties VOID when using these AFE COLD AIR INTAKES?
c). Can the AFE COLD AIR INTAKES DAMAGE OUR E60 engines by their poor ventelation designs? (SUCKING IN HOT AIR).
Thanks in advance!!

Just asking but weren't you around for the whole AFE debacle? The only help I can give is what I've heard, which are stories about how horrible they are, and how they decrease HP and on hot days will give an engine overheat error or something like that. I believe most people would say stay away from them tho, and just get an RPI scoop.

This is Jason Bruce from aFe Power. I saw this thread and would like to put my two cents in here if you don't mind. We did have an issue years ago with some tubes for the M5 intakes. These design issues were dealt with years ago and are fine and make power. The issue of heat soak is one that is brought up in many forums but here are some things to chew on. An open element intake of any brand will inhale warmer engine air at idle but as soon as the vehicle moves, the air intake temperature is within a degree or so of outside ambient temps. On our E90 M3 intake which is an open element kit, the intake air temperature was lower than the factory sealed intake when the vehicle moved. I have yet to see any documentation of any damage from any open element air intake system (aFe, K&N, Airaid, etc.)
aFe Intakes or any other intakes do not void warranty. The Magnusson Moss Act states that it is illegal for a dealer to void warranty just by having an aftermarket system on the vehicle. They have to prove the aftermarket product caused the issue to void the warranty.
I am here to help you out if you have an issue with your aFe product. Please feel free to call me on my direct line at 951-493-7147 or email me at jbruce@afepower.com. Thanks for your time guys and let me know if you need any further information.
