i think so.

Can anyone confirm this? That would mean that if you get the premium package in the USA, then you get the handsome downward facing LED lights on the side-view mirrors (the puddle lights). Yet, these side lights seem much rarer in the states than I assume the premium package is?

YES, premium pkg in USA contains this...

I have the ELP and I reckon they are a little over-exuberant with the intensity of the light shown in the diagram. Only when it's very dark can u notice the internal door panel lights (and thats with a lightish colour on seats and door). I don't reckon you'd see it at all with an all black interior. Likewise with the external door mirror lights, not as bright as the diagram. I think if someone was to order it with the expectation from the picture, there might be disappointment ahead....

I agree that the pic overstates the brightness and throw of light. I had the extended lights package in my car and the little orange LED's in the doors barely lit the interior door handle. I'm sure the pack also gives more footwell area lighting which is not shown in the pic.

I have this lighting package and I do agree it is very low beam and you hardly will be able to notice. Does not worth it in my opinion

Has anyone thought about changing the interior LED's to higher intensity ones?

The package is definitely too subtle with a black interior.
