Thumbs up

06 525. For the past week on initial startup often I am getting a triangle with a snow flake in the middle being displayed on the Indicator Warning Lamps Display. Its only displayed a few seconds, then goes away. Additionally on the control display screen (idrive) I noticed yesterday it said something to the effect of "outside temp 38 deg", I think thats what it said. This was displayed at the same time the triangle and snowflake was. Can't find any mention of this in the manual.

That's to warn you that the outside temperature is such that there may be icy road conditions. I think it is called the "Ice Warning".

Anyone know where that is in the 06 Owners Manual? Just curious to what else I have missed. I must say that is friggin incredible, a car that warns me of pending icy conditions...now I know what I have missed in a Ford all these years!

BMW's have been warning of the temperature drop for at least 25 years now. It's the little things that set them apart...

Can't say about the '06 owners manual but in the '04 manual .pdf, it's on page 65 (.pdf page 67) in the "Controls" section, under "Ice Warning."

I've been getting it, plus a chime, when the temp. hits 37 degrees F. And I remember seeing this in the manual, though I'm not sure I agree with their theory that an air temperature 5 degrees above freezing implies an ice risk.

More to the point - has anyone tried to correlate the temperature the car shows you with actual? I have and it's been anywhere from 10 low to 5 high. So I wouldn't rely on it.

My 95 Volvo 850 has this indicator whenever the outside temperature drop before 36 degree F. So nothing new to me.

I started getting this thing a couple of days ago. To be honest, it scared me at first coz I thought something went wrong again. It is going to be really annoying considering we have half-year long winter here.
