My guess is that the more you drive it, the harder you drive it (happend to me ). Mileage does seem a little low, however. I'd try manual calculations and see if that works.

this time my last full tank of gas last me only 285-290 mpg. I'm using the gas type 91, same driving condition.
285 mpg on my car / 18.5 gallon -->that mean I'm only getting 15.4 mpg.
This is as bad the any SUV!!!
Those number not include I'm driving on the freeway.

And... you said you getting 285 miles out of a tank dividing that by 18.5 gallons??... you actually filled up 18.5 gallons? that cant be what shows up at the pump meter... isnt that MAX capacity of an E60?
More than likly you filled up at most 17 gallons... usually at 16 your low gas warning would come on already and do you really always drive the car that low before getting gas?
Sorry dont mean to doubt you but just trying to help you diagnoise your problem to see if there really is a problem.
if its 285 and you're filling up 15 gallons thats 19mpg... which is barely at the minimum of what the car is rated for city and you do cruise the highway right? Meaning staying at pace using the gas pedel as little as possible to sustain a certain speed... not flogging it each time to pass someone or in stop and go orange county traffic.
That is what I did.
Each time I refill the gas tank. I reset the gas tracking switch on the dash board, not in the the I-drive menu. Still my driving condition is normal. I should at lease getting 340-380 mpg. The gas mileage total I quote are from my gas tracking meter,? not the computer shown how many miles until the gas tank is empty.

The "gas tracking switch" on the dash is just resetting the trip odometer. Resetting this will not impact the estimated miles till empty, either on the dash or in the iDrive. I am not surprised to see the estimated miles to empty drop since delivery as it is computation based on recent avg. MPG. When you took delivery, the avg MPG driving off the boat and around the dealers lot was very high (assuming you bought the car without it having been test driven by others). As you drove the car around town, likely more aggressively than it had ever been, the estimate till empty will drop.
Thank you Kscarrol, thats what I am trying to tell the silly bear. Once again:
1) by pushing the button on the dash, you are simply reseting the odometer. It has no effect whatsoever on your miles to empty number.
2) Reset the Fuel consumption in I-Drive. Go the the screen below, scroll to fuel consumption and push down to reset.
3)Finally, as someone mentioned, your calculations are incorrect if you are assuming you are pumping 18.5 gallons. Take your actual mileage from the odo and divide it by the gallons you actually pump. Thats your MPG. If you follow the instructions in 2) it will match or be be damn close.
4) RTFM

My Ride: 05 BMW 530i Orient Blue Metalic with Sport and Premium Package. Xenon Light. 35% tint, Red reflector, 123 type chrome rim.
The onboard gas status shown that I only have 15 miles before the tank completely empty. The computer saying it has only 15 miles in range and using the reserve fuel. So each time I refill, I pump it to the max. I don't remember how many gallons. But I expect to be at least 17-18.5 gallon.
I have been driving as normal "just the D drive, not using the DS or manual gear.
I have been tracking my total miles each time I reset the clear miles switch on the dash board. Not using the I-drive computer info at all.
Your input greatly appreciates
