I had my car go for service again for the plaguing i-drive dying on me few times (blank screen phenomenon), and they told me that they changed the CID to a new one... not sure what that means... and it took only half a day!!

Also, when i received the car, the idrive screen appears discolored, with very faint colors compared to normal, and the green is really pale green... is there something wrong with the software now? How come they don't check up after doing services to the car to see if everything is working properly before giving back to the owner... so strange...
now i think i have to bring it back to dealer for 3rd time in 3 weeks...

please help... thanks

cheers everyone!!

The CID is the "central information display" -- in other words, they changed the LCD screen...

but for some reason, the screen graphics and colors all look washed out... does that mean they didn't connect it properly or the LCD screen is defective?
the greens and browns are all pale and not right looking....

thanks again

I'd say you are correct that either they didn't hook things up right or the screen itself is defective. Either way, it seems like an easy fix is heading your way...

Please note that there may not be a problem with your new CID. It's more likely that they have upgraded your Progman version when changing the CID (you mentioned that the work took half a day). If you have Navigation Pro and your last Progman version was older than ver.25, CID graphics and colors have changed. Colors on version 25 and later are pale compared to previous versions.. sad but true.

To be sure, take it back to dealer and have it checked. Or post some pictures here ?

Best regards.

That's a good thought -- I forgot about the changes to the colors -- especially the main menu...

JungleBoy, post some pics of what you're complaining about -- there may be nothing wrong at all!

I will try to take some pictures with my neighbor's camera... mine isn't working properly....
but i would like to say I had version 26.x and the colors were clear and strong... the colors now appear so light the blue for the communications section looks like the light blue color of this messaging window... this is what i call abnormal...
I did make appointment for next week, so they will take a look

i will keep you guys posted, and thanks soooooooo much for your feedbacks!!
always grateful for your opinions and ideas guys!!

cheers and keep in touch
