What do I loose??
#1
Hi all,
I have had pretty bad luck with my front tires. I have hit pot holes and since the side walls are too low on my tires they have not been able to hold.
This would be my second new front tire.
Here is my question. My front tires are Continental ContiSportContact 245/35/19. I called the dealer to check on the prices and they told me its $340 plus installation and he told me its better to get it from the dealer since they have tires with a * (star) on it which means they were specifcally made for BMWs.
I went a head and bought the same tire without the * from discount tires for $260 plus installation. Now I need to purchanse another front tire. What do I really loose if I don't get the * rated dealer tire?
Thanks in advance.

You are not losing anything, but gaining $80. I would never purchase a tire from a dealer unless an emergency. Go to tirerack.com in the future for competitive pricing. They will even ship directly to a local tire shop for installation. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. I do always check the prices at tire rack. The Discount tire shop near me actually matches the tire rack prices. So I save on some shipping too.
